I'd forgotten to do a Site Update entry when I added it, but I've added a new Blog Post entitled "The Leisure Cruise". It's about the recent holiday I had to the Mediterranian on a Cruise ship! I've also added a lot more tags to the blog entries too.
Started a new entry on the People Page for the comedian Dick Emery - another influence on my childhood. I've started it, but that's about it for the moment!
Added two new videos to the BBC Radiophonic Workshop "Sounds Radiophonic" Page of Daphne Oram's Oramics Machine and of Desmond Brisco and Delia Derbyshire talking about the BBC Radiophonic Workshop early days.
Added another Maxell advert video clip to the Video Clips Page. This one was a skit on The Skids track of the time.
As you can see, we've had a bit of a decorate! It's taken a couple of days to tweak things until they're right, but all should be reasonably OK and working now.
Added a somewhat long article about Eric Morecambe (and Morecambe & Wise) from the People Page. Disabled the News Page and the Latest News module as it's a bit spurious and doesn't get updated very often.
Chnged the site background (again) to some dark arty concrete brick design.
I've added what I can only describe as "some prettyness" to the site using some custom css classes in the articles. This gives warning, info and note boxes to the text.
I've adjusted some of the front page text so that it looks a little better when laid out on the page and I've done some backend work to provide me with a service. It's my website after all ;)
Messing around with the backgrounds a bit too, see if I can find one I really like!
Updated the various media players (audio and video) for the site to bring them in line with a common standard (for me!). Should work with Mac, iPhone and iPad successfully.
Extensive bit of back end software upgrading now complete, taking the Joomla! version of the website from 1.5.23 (the latest at the time) to Joomla! 1.7 (the latest at the time!!). Not without it's little foibles, however.
The version of the video player has changed, in order to make the vids compatible and playable on iPads etc, however everything else near enough has stayed the same. Big display on the Doctor Who counter though (the big display comes with the software template and I quite like it!).
All of the mac pages should still work, along with the Rokbox player for iPads. If not, let me know.
Can't quite believe it's July already! Anyway, as well as a slight site redesign - mainly to make it work a bit better on mobile and hand held devices, iPads etc - I've also been through and tidied up a few typo's and grammatical mistakes too. Added a few little pictures here and there to spruce the pages up as well.
I've also implemented a nice little plug-in called RokBox, which allows us to be able to play the audio on the site on an iPad and iPhone, without the need for a flash player.
